Mar, 2024 - Retreat to Bhutan

Objective:

The trip organized by JLW Ahmedabad to Bhutan aimed to provide participants with an immersive cultural experience, spiritual rejuvenation, culinary exploration, and adventure amidst the serene Himalayan landscape. Led by Krina Bhatt Shah, the trip sought to foster camaraderie among the 27 ladies while delving deep into Bhutan's rich heritage and traditions. 

Highlights and Activities: 

Cultural Immersion:

Monastery Visits: Participants explored numerous monasteries in Thimphu and Pao, marveling at the intricate fresco paintings, sculptures, and the serene presence of Lord Buddha. 

Spiritual Retreat:

Meditation in Manesar: The group indulged in a soulful meditation session in Manesar, Ponakha, amidst the tranquil surroundings, fostering a profound spiritual experience. 

Culinary Delights:

Local Cuisine: In Thimphu, participants engaged in a hands-on culinary experience, learning to prepare the traditional Bhutanese dish, Ema Datshi, using cheese and chillies. They also explored various other dishes inspired by this basic recipe. 

Adventure:

Tiger's Nest Monastery Trek: A highlight of the trip was the exhilarating trek to the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery, perched at 10,000 ft amidst lush Pine forests. While some ventured halfway, others, including Pavani Agarwal, Vaibhavi Parikh, and Vedanga Thakkar, completed the entire ascent, relishing the breathtaking views along the way. 

Takeaways: 

Cultural Enrichment: Participants gained a deeper appreciation for Bhutan's rich cultural heritage through monastery visits and interactions with local traditions.

Spiritual Renewal: The meditation session in Manesar provided a serene retreat, leaving everyone with a sense of inner peace and rejuvenation.
