Mar, 2024 - JITO Youth Sports Cup

Event Overview:

The JITO Ahmedabad Youth Wing successfully hosted the much-anticipated Youth Sports Cup on March 30th and 31st, 2024. The Youth Sports Cup was an action-packed tournament where 10 Teams and 165 players, including 40 girls participated to compete in 4 sports – Pool, Pickleball, Badminton, and Football, for individual sports while aiming to win the ultimate prize – the Champions Cup. A Team Draft was organized on 12.03.2024, where the 10 Team Owners got together with their Team Captains and Vice-Captains and curated their squad of 15-16 players each for the tournament. The Youth Sports Cup was organized over a span of two days, where the 10 teams brought together the vibrant youth community of Ahmedabad registrations for a celebration of sportsmanship, talent, and camaraderie. With engaging matches, enthusiastic participation, and memorable moments, the event truly exemplified the spirit of JITO's commitment to fostering holistic development among the youth. 

Day 1 Highlights (March 30th, 2024):

Day one kicked off with great fervor at AP Pickleball Club, Shilaj with an opening ceremony and jersey distribution with all the 10 team owners being felicitated. 125 participants from 10 teams then engaged in exciting matches of pickleball and pool (stripes and solids) from 4:00 PM to 10PM. Each team fielded 10 players to participate in Pickleball comprising of 6 players in Pickleball Alpha and 4 in Pickleball Beta. Pickleball Alpha was conducted in a double’s knockout tournament format with 2 winners at the end. While, in Pickleball Beta the team of 4 collectively advanced on an aggregate score in the Mixed Doubles and Open Doubles Tournament. In Pool, each team fielded 3 players who played individually in a classic game of stripes and solids. The atmosphere was electric as teams showcased their skills and competitive spirit, setting the stage for an unforgettable tournament. The tournament was accompanied by hi-tea and dinner. The finals for Pool and Pickleball tournament was whistled away by Chapter Chief Secretary Pravesh Mehta and Chapter Vice Chairperson Rajeev Chhajer.

 

Day 2 Highlights (March 31st, 2024):

The excitement continued on day two with football and badminton tournaments held at ARA, Sindhu Bhavan Road. From 3:00 PM onwards, participants demonstrated exceptional prowess and determination in high-intensity matches. Badminton was structured in a manner where each team fielded 5 players each, 4 for men’s doubles and 1 for women’s single. While Football was a 6-a-side tournament, with a compulsion to have at least 1 woman on the field at all times. The 10 teams were divided into 2 groups, where each team played 2 league stage games and then the top 2 teams from both the groups advanced to the semis, and then the winners competed in the finals. The league stage matches were kicked off by Shri Amit Jain, Shri Sanjeev Chhajer, Shri Asit Shah, and Shri Pravesh Mehta. The finals were kicked off by Shri Kushal Bhansali, Shri Jigish Doshi, Shri Samir Sheth, and Smt. Kavita Jain. After the finals, all the sponsors and 10 team owners were invited to share their thoughts and experience of the tournament. The day concluded with a closing ceremony, honoring the exemplary sportsmanship displayed throughout the event.
