The “Flight to Freedom” event took place on Republic Day, January 26, 2024, at the Danev Foundation in Pirana, Ahmedabad. Attendees, driven by compassion, gathered for a morning filled with purpose. The event began with a poignant flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a guided tour of the hospital facilities dedicated to animal and bird care. Witnessing firsthand the treatments and surgeries offered to injured creatures, attendees participated in releasing rehabilitated birds back into their natural habitat, symbolizing freedom and recovery.15 members attended this event.Environmental engagement was emphasized through tree planting, selecting species beneficial for wildlife and nesting. Central to the event’s message was raising awareness about the dangers of kite flying to birds, especially sharp kite strings (manjas), which pose risks beyond the kite flying season.Attendees were urged to remove leftover manjas from their balconies and terraces to prevent bird injuries. Additionally, concerns were raised about animal injuries due to reckless driving, highlighting the need for responsible behavior. Within the hospital, a dedicated physiotherapy center offers comprehensive care for birds and animals, underscoring the commitment to compassionate treatment and environmental conservation.
