JITO Ahmedabad Chapter, led by Chairman Shri Rajeev Chhajer and Chief Secretary CA (Dr) Jainik Vakil, organized an insightful session on ‘Navigating Digital Personal Data Protection Act Compliance and Deepfake Phishing’ at GCCI on 4th December 2025. The program was held in collaboration with The Times of India and experts from the National Forensic Sciences University, featuring tech specialists Shri Rajdeep Ghosh and Shri Kritarth Jhala. This exclusive session focused on emerging digital risks, covering the latest data protection requirements, deepfake creation and detection and corporate cyber security challenges.
Attendees learned about the risks of sharing personal data on mobile apps and websites, emphasizing the importance of security practices such as not sharing OTPs, enabling two-step verification for emails and safeguarding devices. The experts highlighted methods to detect deepfake content—including video, audio, and images—by using open-source tools like VirusTotal and HavelBeenPwned and other deepfake detection platforms. Participants were made aware of how hackers tailor such synthetic media for phishing and ransom schemes and the legal frameworks enabling action against such cyber threats.
The government’s recent advisory on compliance with IT rules for digital platforms was also discussed, emphasizing clear communication of prohibited content to users.
Chairman Shri Rajeev Chhajer appreciated the experts for such valuable insights. The JITO Ahmedabad committee, including Sr. Vice Chairman Shri Vaibhav Shah, Treasurer Shri Ashok Bafna Conveners Shri Indresh Shah and Shri Vidhan Surana felicitated the TOI convener and tech experts with shawls and mementos. The session was interactive, featuring a Q&A segment, followed by a Hi tea.
Chief Secretary Shri Jainik Vakil delivered the vote of thanks, while the presence of Ladies Wing Chairperson Smt. Anuja Shah and Vice Chairperson Smt. Neeta Rupani added to the significance of the event.
